Getting Into The Communication Ideal; Gearing Up For Super-Cool CTIA Coverage With bnetTV & Organizing Berlin Alternative Mobile Search Event
It’s been a great week of immersing myself in the first chapters of Jonathan MacDonald’s upcoming book The Communication Ideal. I can’t give away much right now, but it takes some courage to title the first chapter Advertising is Dead. But I would not have expected Jonathan to do otherwise. It’s in his DNA to challenge our preconceived notions about advertising and all things digital. Since Jonathan broke on the scene he has become the brave new voice in the mobile advertising space.
I’m thrilled that he is on board to speak at upcoming conferences (in fact, we speak at a few on the same day) and look forward to seeing the sparks fly. Just what the industry needs at this important juncture. On a personal note: I’m not only privileged to know Jonathan as a person (I have enjoyed long conversations and great fun as well); I am honored to be part of the inner circle of friends and colleagues he has chosen to review his book. And great work it is!
CTIA is next on the list. My inbox is packed with CTIA invites and requests for briefings (please keep them coming!), and MSG and bnetTV have teamed up to plan in-depth coverage around mobile search, content discovery, mobile advertising, and social media. I’m proud to have the opportunity to work together with Nicole Scott – roving reporter, segment producer and all around a fun person to be with. We’re planning our production schedule next week, so please contact me if you want to set up a videocast. You can also Skype my PA Andrea at andrea_henninge.
Finally, Charles Knight from AltSearchEngines and MSG are planning a dinner for search engine providers in Berlin timed to the Web 2.0 Expo. More details on the venue and sponsorship opportunities later.
But first I’m off to celebrate my mother in-law’s birthday with friends, family and a few special guests who made the trip from England to Germany for the occasion.
Have a great weekend (!) and we will all be back next week. Look for great posts from the entire MSG team (Peggy Albright, James Cameron and Marji McClure).

Hey Peggy – thanks for the namecheck – as ever, delighted to be close and over the moon that you are helping The Communication Ideal along!
Looking likely to be at CTIA at some stage but not sure when and for how long – will keep you updated.
