JumpTap And Zogby Partner For Mobile Election Survey

The 2008 U.S. Presidential elections have certainly embraced the mobile medium,with Barack Obama’s successful Obama Mobile site setting the tone with 2.9 million text messages announcing Joe Biden as his running mate. And now, search and advertising specialists JumpTap have teamed up with leading pollsters Zogby to launch one of the first mobile advertising campaigns to survey voters nationwide about the presidential election and top issues ahead of the November 4th general election.

The U.S. market now has 43 million mobile Web users and 270 million mobile users in total. There is clearly an opportunity to engage with these users and interest in the general election is sure to drive traffic should the Jumptap-Zogby tie up get people interested. Paran Johar, CMO of JumpTap puts it this way “The Zogby/JumpTap partnership marks the opening of a new horizon in using mobile as the center of next generation communication and new media, and pioneers an innovative effort to demonstrate how readily people will engage via their mobiles with information that is important and relevant.”

Mobile content usage generally peaks around big sporting events, but the presidential elections in the U.S. provide a real opportunity to educate users and provide some crucial data and metrics for the nascent mobile advertising market.
