Mobile Web And Application Growth; AdMob Now Has 5.1 Billion Ad Requests Per Month

The latest raft of metrics from AdMob were released today showing huge growth as AdMob’s ad requests have tripled from 1.6 billion in September 2007 to 5.1 billion in September 2008. MSG has been following these metrics from the very beginning. We know that intuitively these stats would be the key to understanding the mobile Web and more importantly being able to match the right ad to the right user through effective targeting based on details such as device, region and share of traffic.Other key findings from the report include:

· The top 5 countries for ad requests in September 2008 were the U.S. (39.3 percent), Indonesia (22.4 percent), India (7.7 percent), the U.K. (3.9 percent) and the Philippines (2.9 percent)

· Asia (41 percent) now tops the number of ad requests, beating the U.S. (40.1 percent) into second place

· Nokia lead the worldwide table of handset requests with 35.2 percent from Motorola in second place (13.7 percent) and SonyEricsson in third (12.3 percent)

· Motorola continue their dominance of the U.S. market with the top 4 handsets

· 6 out of the top 20 devices in the U.S. market have XL screen sizes

· The Sony PSP came in at number 13 in the U.S. market with 1.3 percent of the share of requests

· In the U.K., the Nokia N95 now has a 9.7 percent share of the total 197 million ad requests – Apple’s iPhone currently sits in 6th place with 2.2 percent
