Countdown to M-Days 2010; Europe’s Biggest Event Outside Mobile World Congress
A huge round of thanks to companies and MSG supporters for the congratulatory emails and Tweets on a new-look MSG and a roster of new columnists, contributors and media partnerships. As you may have noticed, MSG has redesigned the Events page to showcase conferences and meet-ups around the world. The aim is to be a leading destination for everything happening – not just in mobile, but also across all the exciting verticals that impact our lives AND the future of mobile.
If you have an event to share, or a media partnership to discuss, then please contact Peter Salz (peter@msgblog.com). MSG also creates free pre-event content (podcasts, interviews, white papers) for select organizers in return for high-profile promotion and branding, so contact us to find out how we can work together to make your event shine.
One event we are closely aligned with is M-Days, a must-attend mobile industry event (January 28-29 in Munich) organized by 11 Prozent – Communication that counts a whopping 1,400+ attendees, making it the largest mobile event in Europe outside the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
For five years the M-Days event has been synonymous with mobile in continental Europe.
This year MSG is proud to partner with the organizers to bring the event to a global audience. The effort is already paying dividends and Carsten Szameitat, Managing Director, 11 Prozent – Communication, tells me that the exhibition is sold-out (!)
However, some speaking opportunities are still available, so contact me (peggy@msearcchgroove.com) or Carsten (c.szameitat@11prozent.de) directly.
Carsten and I are also joining together to produce a newsletter that combines the best of our news and commentary for a global audience. Our first issue will also feature an exclusive podcast interview with a keynote speaker and list the event highlights. More about in a formal announcement and press release.
To date the impressive line-up of speakers includes: Gian M. Fulgoni, Chairman and Co-Founder, comScore; Rainer Deutschmann, Senior Vice President Mobile Products, Deutsche Telekom; Colm Healy, Vice President (UK), Qualcomm; Joel Berger, Managing Director GSA & Northern Europe, MySpace; Ralf Lauterbach, Head of Consumer Architecture, Vodafone Germany; Jan-Christiaan Koenders, Director Brand Communication, BMW Group; Kerstin Trikalitis, CEO, Out There Media; Christian Lindholm, Partner and Director, Fjordnet Ltd; Ajit Jaokar, futuretext; Lars-Christian Weisswange, Director, HTC; Scott Seaborn, Head of Mobile Technologies (UK), Ogilvy Group; Martin Börner, Director of Telecom Division, Samsung; Marc Mielau, Head of Digital Media, BMW Group; Mark Wächter, “Mr. Mobile” & Member of the Global Board of Directors, Mobile Marketing Association; Daniel Euler, Managing Director, Gettings (E-Plus Gruppe); and the list goes on (!). You can find a complete list of speakers and sessions here.
And speaking of sessions, this year M-Days has doubled the number of sessions to cover an even wider range of topics. A special attraction is the Paid Content panel (how to wring value out of your digital assets).
MSG will be on-location, conducting briefings, connecting with cool companies and filming a limited number of exclusive interviews. In addition, I will moderate the panel on social media with special emphasis on social media marketing. If you want to meet up or catch up, then contact me directly.
M-days also cooperates closely with comScore, a relationship that gives it the inside track on some key data points. Carlo Longino will provide his analysis later in the week.
In the meantime, we learn from a recent press release (to promote the social media panel and sessions during M-Days) that mobile social networking across Europe is up 139 percent compared to last year. In other words, we use the mobile Internet to connect. But we also use it to find information on the fly. comScore reports the number of users browsing and retrieving news and information has increased 44 percent, with the use of news and information apps up a staggering 101 percent.
For the inside track on these trends (Gian M. Fulgoni, Chairman and Co-Founder, comScore, is a keynote speaker) and what it all means for the future of mobile, head on down to Munich for M-Days. As Harald Neidhardt, Co-Founder and CMO of Smaato (and frequent/passionate commentator on all things mobile) put in a recent statement: M-Days is “definitively the best possible start into the mobile year in 2010.”
See you there!
Disclaimer: MSG is an M-Days media partner and has joined with organizers to produce a newsletter tracking developments impacting the mobile industry.
