Netsize Guide Debuts @ MWC; MSG Named Top 50 Influential Tech Blog

Author: Peggy Anne Salz

MSG celebratesIt’s been a busy and exciting time, and the end-product makes it all worth it. The Netsize Guide – the comprehensive mobile industry analysis I have been commissioned to write for the third consecutive year – is finally at the printers. The Guide will be distributed at a special launch party during Mobile World Congress and posted for free download on MSG and other Netsize partner sites on February 17th, so mark the date!

Once again, we recount the key milestones that impacted the mobile industry in 2009, such as the emergence of app stores, the advance of 2D bar codes and the evolution of mobile marketing. But we didn’t stop there. We also surveyed professionals and practitioners for their pick of mobile trends and their views on the future of mobile.

Finally, we identified the case studies, business models and future scenarios that illustrate the profound impact mobile is having on all aspects of our daily lives and our global society. From new services aimed at achieving socioeconomic development goals in emerging markets to the advance of smartphone features that support Augmented Reality (AR) applications that merge the physical and digital worlds around us to the advance of mobile into new vertical industry sectors and disciplines, it’s clear that mobile is the catalyst for significant change and improvement.

Change is also the focus at MSG, which has just this week been named one of the Top 50 Tech Blogs by Konector.

True to its name Konector “finds connectors and mavens (people we call Konectors) who have an online presence and have the social networks and influence to promote products on behalf of advertisers.” The company is about to release a report listing the most influential websites and news services, so I’ll have more details on that next week. In the meantime, I am honored to be in the company of sites that set the bar, including  All Things Digital, Mobile Crunch, ReadWriteWeb and VentureBeat – to name a few.

The next weeks will see me take the wraps off a number of new projects and partnerships that build on MSG’s reach and influence to spark debate and educate the marketplace.

A special and personal round of thanks to Stan Chesnais, Netsize CEO; Alexander Vlasblom, Netsize Group Marketing Communications Director; and Christine Blattes, Netsize Graphic Designer, for inspiration and collaboration on this year’s Netsize Guide. It rocks!
